Lost Boys Surface Hoar

Went surface hoar hunting on a ski touring refresher for Mountain Addicts and found it in a sheltered north aspect protecting the persistent weak layer from wind and solar input. CTM (17) down 52 cm sudden planner shear, did an extended column test with the same result on 17 taps. Well preserved buried surface hoar is still out there in specific terrain.
