Windpocalypse

Extremely windy day at Mt Spieker today, about as forecasted. We stuck to conservative lines at treeline in simple terrain. Everything the wind could get at was scoured down to facets, and everything slightly sheltered was cast iron wind slab. We found a very reactive layer down 15 cm in our pit, and heard whumphs on the skin track in drifted areas. Lots of recent smaller avalanches and debris in bigger terrain and on north facing slopes, plus 60-80 km/hr winds kept our heads down all day.
