Found a few whumpfs today! NE of Sparwood at treeline and below (we didn't go into the alpine) With 35 cm new snow of snow over a surface hoar hoar layer and obvious clues of instability we played in low angle terrain today…because we know that whumpfs and shooting tracks often translate into avalanches in terrain over 30 degrees. So today we didn’t need to do any snowpack tests to tell us we could trigger avalanches in steep terrain, but we did one anyways because ?. Saw several size 1-2 storm slab avalanches from steep alpine terrain. Running to the middle of the runout. Couldn't see the start zone because of clouds.
