It has been great to get eyes in the Alpine with this sunshine. There is a lot of debris out there from our previous Na cycle and we did note that every avalanche had big propagation and often ripped to ground. There were no new avalanches observed today, however here is already snow reloading the bed surfaces on these old avalanches, a concern for the future.
We dug on a shallow Alpine shoulder, 145 centimeters. Theses shallow areas are our main concerns. We were getting hard SP results on our Dec 27th FC down 65 centimeters. The bottom of the snowpack was a mix of big grained Depth Hoar and FC size 6.
Our problem is a low likelihood, but high consequence.
