Skied up the E bowl of Waputik Peak after a rising northward traverse at treeline. Wind affect was significant above treeline, with mixtures of sastrugi, breakable crust, and some soft surface slabs. At ridgeline we left skis and walked to the summit on extremely wind-stripped scree. Tree skiing was challenging due to refrozen tree bombs reminicent of a cold spring morning. Open trees (rare) offered a good turn or two. A slight inversion seemed evident on this sunny and windy day, with cold travel along the river lessened with a few hundred meters gain. No recent slides or other signs of instability.
