We decided to give the storm and windslabs another day to bond in the alpine and headed to Coal Creek where the forecasted avalanche danger was lower (due to elevation band). Depending on the aspect, there was between 15-25 cm of recent storm snow that made for some decent turns. We had some minor cracking (less than a sled length wide) on very steep test convexities, but we saw no signs of recent avalanche activity on our short trip. Winter was holding in with afternoon temperatures of -4 at 1850 m.
