Quick Observation

A start in the dark to battle through a bunch of crust and alders on steep slopes led us to the goods and we were rewarded with quieter ridges and fun powder! It was an icy start at ~1000m with the snow getting lighter the higher we went. By around 1300m the snow had a fluffier consistency to the top layer, leaving behind what looked like a melt-freeze crust, and by 1800 the snow was well consolidated powder snow. We were glad of our ridge choice as ridge 2000 looked a lot like the touristy Everest photo... large groups, riding across skin tracks and a wait to have your turn! Lots of great turns to be had of you a look a little further. Not sure we’d recommend The Gorby Pinball machine on the way down... not for the feint hearted but extra style points if you make it across the bridge!!!
