We intentionally ski cut a 35-degree, N facing open convexity at treeline in order to test bonding of the storm snow to the old surface. No surprise too see the 40+ cm of storm snow release on a bed surface of crusts and facets. Although the slide was small and did not entrain much mass, it ran fast and far. This result kept us skiing more planar slopes in the trees, which produced no results and provided excellent conditions.
