We did an access recce at one of Mt Nora's subpeaks today but found the terrain too rugged for our appetite. There may be a couple of other options to explore..
In any case, it wasn't until about 900 m that we would have dared to try sliding on snow. At our 1000m high point, we found 20 cm of new snow on the dirt, topped with dazzling new 5-8mm surface hoar on a brittle 2cm crust from yesterday's warmup. The snow beneath the crust had dried out in the shade but remained moist in the sun. We saw a few pinwheels from yesterday but didn't stick around for the peak of today's warming.
