Skier accidental Sz 2. North aspect, 1200m TL terrain.
Broad gentle ridge, 30 degrees. Triggered by 1st skier on slope. Easily skied out of and to the side. 20-50cm soft slab, 30 meters across, gaining mass down gentle slope and disappearing into steep terrain BTL. Did not step down to previous storm snow. Impressive propagation. Avalanche ran on Feb 15th surface hoar layer which was very visible. Bed surface four finger resistance.
No naturals in the area or other accidentals despite other parties pushing. Cold temps, light to moderate outflow wind, no visible blowing snow in the immediate area. Ridgeline was mixture of soft and hard deep wind slabs with ski quality increasing once below the main ridge.
