Great day out on Cokely. We were able to drive to about half a km past the fork to the ski hill road, almost to 1100 m! Definitely a treat to be able to drive that high!
We went up the Rosseau Chute trail, conditions were scary thin - about 30 cm of fresh on top of bare ground, there was no base to speak of until just below the treeline.
Very windy conditions and poor visibility at the top of the old ski hill but the fresh snow was mostly not yet consolidated and still fluffy, although it was starting to feel heavier on the leeward side of slopes.
We found some amazing light fluffy pow sheltered in the trees on the east side of the old ski hill. There was more of a base under the fresh snow in the ski hill area and we didn’t encounter any sharks.
One skier in our group did set off a small slide when he skied over a wind lip that had formed on the leeward side of an isolated terrain feature, however he remained on his feet and was able to continue skiing.
