Ogden Bench

bdpiche, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Ogden Bench was well loved in the past few days and likely needs a refresh, but still some lines to be had on the top of the bench and down. The main gully is beat up with a dusting of snow on top of the weekends tracks. Snowed off and on all day, and lots of wind up high. No signs of instability, but some sluffing coming off the main headwall and the lookers-right slope to the top of the bench. Quite the impressive crown from a few days ago on the second-last slope (attached photo) Skin track is great, especially if you toured this December 2019. Whoever set it, well done (and a relief after the heinous tracks of 2020) Regarding parking: About a dozen vehicles parked in the brake check today, apparently no parking signs now up. Just us and socially distanced friends parked at the Chain-off (eastbound Hwy 1, approx 200 m west of the summer lot). Bit spicy running across the highway with ski gear, but I feel much better about this then getting truckers annoyed at a pretty essential spot for them before some serious downhill. Regarding MINS: If you’re reading this, post one! Busy times and lack of MINs just provides less info for these forecasts that we all use... share the love, there’s no secret stashes..
