It stayed below zero in the bowl today, but there’s definitely some heat in the snow pack after this prolonged warm spell. Old icy rain crusts well within the snow pack, & have started to soften, with better bonding at interfaces then before it got warm.
We found some creamy soft snow in the lower bowl, for some relaxed quality turns. From the bowls bottom to the parking lot, was pure survival while negotiating some wild Sastrugi and wind blasted terrain. Most of the upper slopes were wind scoured, with some snow holding on East facing aspects.
Our tests produced no significant results today, with no new avalanches observed.
