Skinned up towards big kahuna. Beautiful day, sunny and warm, as we left around 4 the wind was picking up and clouds were moving in.
Pit @ ~1400m (approx where the pin is), ~40°, NE aspect. Top ~20cm was 4 finger, then knife/pen down to the bottom of our pit. 20cm interface failed gradually throughout CTE/CTM, top 20cm layer not very consolidated. Everything below that was no result - I was able to wedge the column out and pick it up (no planar breaks in it from dropping it either).
Higher up we started to find a surface wind crust, varying around 1-5cm depth. Around 1700m it started to form small slabs and propagate a meter or so past our skis as we skinned, we decided to transition and ride down from there.
Riding was great - not deep powder, but nice supportive and mostly consistent snow.
