Ross Southeast

Meshwell Boschmann, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

2 cm of snow received overnight at the Loop Brook parking lot. We bootpacked the Slot Canyon crux given the generally hard and crusty conditions. The Elephant Trunk was filled with an impressive debris (SZ 3.5?) from last weekend's natural cycle. Ross Peak Southeast Couloirs both received a lot of sun this morning and numerous SZ 2 moist avalanche debris could be seen in them. Snow got moist on the steep solars given the strong solar radiation before the high clouds rolled in around noon. Ross Peak high col still had a few very large cornices on the lookers right. The ski down on the more east facing features held excellent turns. We saw close to 30 people skiing the Bonney Moraines and Trees. The ski out had moguls! The steep solars will have a suncrust underneath the snow we are getting tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Weather Report

Day started with a few clouds in the Loop Brook area. Strong solar radiation on steep south aspects resulting in moist snow, tree bombing and snow balling. Clouds rolled in around noon. Snow started around 3 pm. Snowing S1 when we left.
