Mt Green / Ross Peak slide path

The Ross Pass is probably best done with boot crampons and mountaineering / ice axes. We caused an expected small slide (sz 1) from wind slab just before breaking over ridge, wind slab, cracked, blocked up pretty good and dropped 15-30cm deep. Ross pass took time to navigate this year. One of our party did it with out boot crampons and ice axe, but not recommended. We descended the sketchy ridge on Mt Green without repelling. Probably recommended to build an anchor and repel, as falling would be fatal. Also plan for an early morning as the exit out is gnarly. Plan for 9 hour day with a fit crew. There was surface hoar up 10mm on protected aspects going up to Ross Pass. Our party tried to do it again on Wednesday January 8th, but turned back due to cornice growth on Ross Path. Bring a good headlamp (not a candle), it's hard to retreat once you've gone thru Ross Pass. Start early, it's hard to take pictures in the dark.
