We were finally Abel to make it here

AvCan Vancouver Island, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

It was a beautiful sunny day for a walk up Mount Abel. We headed for a new to us route up Adam road. We had to leave our sleds at about 1000m due to the alder overgrowth on the road. From there, we continued up on foot, and were pleasantly surprised to find a gentle, winding road up the shoulder of Mount Abel. In the morning, the 5-10cm of new snow was dry at all elevations on the north aspects, but this quickly changed by noon. We found our desired route down in a wesr facing gully and dug a pit. The same rotten crust that existed at Mt Arrowsmith, is here in the north region as well, just buried a bit deeper. We are still getting no significant results on it, but it is something we are keeping our eyes on. The turns down were soft and beautiful up top, but got a bit sticky lower down. We saw small loose wet activity on the solar aspects and caused some pinwheeling with our turns at lower elevations. What a perfect spring day!
