Storm skiing

staywildbackcountry, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Evidence of a natural cycle from the day before. Size 1 to size 2. Dug a quick pit on a north aspect at 1990m. HS 160cm, ECTN 27 down 55cm. HST has formed a soft slab and appeared to be sitting on surface hoar at lower elevations. As we skied down towards BTL we could feel the slab stiffing up. Was able to trigger small pillows and convexities at lower elevation. Snowing all day & about 10cm accumulated on our truck when we got down. Very minimal cracking and no whumphing on the tour up.
