A significant amount of rain, and heavy winds mixed with warm temperatures (+5-6 degrees C) have completely soaked the snowpack and led to a lot of melting. The snow is very wet and will create a significant ice sheet when it freezes. All of the snow from the previous storm (Dec. 30) has fallen off the trees in the form of massive tree bombs. We did not venture past 1000 metres, however the rain persisted quite a bit higher up the mountain. No avalanche activity seen up to 1000 metres.
