Nadahini Glacier

Yukon

Yukon Field Team , Wednesday 20th March, 2024 10:15PM

We found great snow above 1200 m in the Nadahini glacier area. We were late getting out today and gave thought to the mid- to late-afternoon sun, warming, and the impact on cornices and the snow surface. We skied cool NE facing slopes and found great boot deep pow and minimal wind effect. We observed several size 1-2 slides on north facing slopes due to cornice failure from the warming event over the weekend, and gave cornices a wide berth. All in all a banger day for a whole bunch of Yukoners out there soaking up the sun and the snow.
