Dug pit at 1900 m, N aspect on 36° slope. HS 280. CTE-3 15 dn collapse on new storm snow. CTM-13 30 dn resistant planar. Storm snow wasn’t bonding well with fast and large propagation. Good bonding throughout rest of column below crust at 250. From our pit results we knew storm slabs were likely. We triggered two small slides and experienced lots of sloughing.
Snow conditions were: Heavy, Wet, Wind affected, Powder. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday.
Avalanche
The first slide we triggered (photo 1) was at 2100 m, storm slab 15 cm deep, 50 m wide and ran about 100 m. The second slide (photo 2) was slightly lower and about 25% smaller. While skinning up we saw a few crowns and sloughing that may have been from yesterday.
