White Pass

Posting on behalf and with permission from Yukon Backcountry Skiing. A nice day to be out. Great weather, - 18c, no wind, and a very nice and light untouched snow. Being filmed for a TV crew, I cannot wait to see the result.About snow conditions in White Pass, it seems like so far it is regular winter with average amount of snow and regular conditions for the season, not better, not worth than what we have usually. Of course , the snow is a wind affected above the tree line, especially on East facing slopes, but it leaves a lot of very acceptable and even good conditions. About the stability, same thing, it is not better or worth than what we have usually, the snow pack is building-up slowly, the strong winds we had ( from NE and SW, did not only affected the snowpack negatively but helped to stabilize some slopes while loading some other ones. most of the N and NE slopes are now well loaded as like some cross slopes and they are just waiting for someone to produce a nice avalanche. Just like usual, the Fraser chutes attract a lot of skiers and sledders. closed calls happened there before and still happens. I did not have a picture, but yesterday I noticed that the one Size 1 avalanche released on the widest gully, some sleds and/or snowboard tracks are covered or partially covered...a sign of possible human triggered slide. During most of the snow events, these chutes are cross loaded. The 3 others slopes I will be aware of next days are , the N slope of Outhouse Hill, the ridge and the notch to access Feather Peak .So have fun and ski safe
