Quick Observation
A popular objective today with 3 parties of 3 spaced along the ridgeline. Some minor evidence of crevasse sags near the convexity as you climb onto the Asulkan Glacier below the Dome that were easily managed. A windy day in the alpine with a lot of snow-transport observed along the ridgetops of Castor to Leda. Winds ranged from SE to NW throughout the day and wind effect was evident on all aspects. We opted not to ski the Thorington route due to wind-loading, and instead traversed around towards the Asulkan Pass. Wind slabs were touchy and we triggered multiple small slabs throughout our descent ( N was punchy and wind-effected, below this ski quality was great, low-density preserved pow. Overall, in the ALP the upper 40cm of the snowpack felt touchy and reactive to skier traffic. The ski out is fast & loose ;)
