Dug a quick pit at 8100ft on a NW aspect. Snow height was 175cm with 55cm of new snow. Multiple layers in the upper 90cm showed signs of instability. I hope to get more time to do snow observations tomorrow and will report back with more info! In short we have a large load on a poor structure.
Avalanche
Multiple natural D1 avalanches were visible on the upper slopes adjacent to Smokey dome on the N, NE, and NW aspects. All looked to be slides that occurred during the Tuesdays storm and then were reburied as the storm finished.
