Skinned at Silver Fir morning and evening. Lots of people out, enjoying uphill travel and the snow. Might've been a hundred cars at Central -- the Summit should tap into this market instead of banning weekend uphill skiing. We don't contribute to lift lines and many of us have season passes. Snow consistency was perfect for both base-building and avoiding rock-strikes: heavy hot pow. Creeks are open but not deep. Crossings inbounds are generally easy. Bigger softer skis and snowboards fared best on the heavy snow. No instability observed, save continuous roofalanches going from midnight through the time of this report at 8pm. Snowed all day, going upside-down on the colder snow from overnight. Visibility never more than a mile, full cloud all day. Height of snow was perhaps 80cm at the top of Silver Fir, 50+ at the base. 4F Cascade Concrete overlying a 5-10cm pencil+ base at the top of Fir. Ski penetration of half of the snowpack on 107mm skis, rarely more. Outback skied surprisingly well morning and evening. So glad to see the new grading! Lower White Rabbit has a creek down the middle, but the Nordic trail above Grand Junction looks ready to groom. The lower-angle slope beneath the Silver Fir chair was ski-compacted and fun at the end of the day.
