Quick report

Spring in the mountains. Cooler temps yet softening snow from light overnight freeze...No recent avalanche activity. Even with cooler temperatures snow on solar aspects had softened and carvable snow on shady aspects gave way to good travel with better turns on low angle terrain. The snow surface looks dirty from wind that blew in a slight dirt layer, and a good amount of tree debris.

No observation of instability

Snowpack

Stable snowpack with failures in the upper foot in compression not propagating in extended column tests. Solar aspects had a large crop of corn growth (upper 10-12cm) that was softened from the sun. Upper snowpack consisted of crusts and facets that was hard to saw through.
