Incline Lake Peak

By the time we got to the trailhead for Incline Lake Peak at 9:15 am, the snow was already wet and mushy on most slopes. It seemed like last night's refreeze was weak to non-existent in many places due to some overnight cloud cover and warm temperatures. The snow on north aspects varied between wet and soft at lower elevations to firm and bumpy at higher elevations. When we stepped off our skis at 9:45 am, we started sinking into boot-top deep mank on some of the N-NE aspects. We had hoped to find supportable, spring-like corn conditions on sunny E-SE-S aspects, but when we reached those slopes at 10:15 am, we found only deep, wet, unsupportable snow and patches of dirt. We turned around and returned to the north side of Incline Lake Peak. On the way back, we triggered a few small sluffs of wet snow and some roller balls on steep sunny slopes. 

Back on the N-facing side of the peak, we found some supportable snow on open, low-angle, N-facing slopes above about 9200 ft. These had softened in the sun and provided about 300-400 ft of decent spring corn snow. Below 9200 ft, conditions quickly changed back to wet, unconsolidated snow with lots of hidden rocks, making for a slow and challenging descent. We also triggered a few roller balls on some steeper spots on the NE-E aspects during the descent.
