Puyallup Ridge

Sunday felt like a mid to late Spring day for the area. The snowpack was very shallow, but also very supportive below 5k'. I drove all the way up to the Upper Rd 92 Sno-Park, pushed my mountain bike 3 miles encountering trace snow (<3") at various points in the along those 3 miles, then walked/snowshoed the remainder of the distance up to Puyallup Ridge Lookout (~9 miles one way with creative shortcutting). Most of the snow was consolidating/rounding/unsupportive, but I ran into thinner coverage areas that were almost completely supportive snow or consolidated ice. Moreover, the coverage along the remainder of the hike was (roughly) 50%/50% snow covered/bare. The snow covered areas tended to be more shaded and the bare areas tended to be more sun-exposed. I saw some old remnants of glide avalanches (D1~D2), but they were old enough that all of the debris that would have been produced had melted away over time.
