Widespread wind affect on east and west aspects. Good quality snow in any areas that were sheltered from the strong southerlies. Lots of crown lines out and about; plenty of evidence of natural slides. Snowpack was quite touchy today. On windward slopes the snow seemed packed down 5-7 inches on top of the previous interfaces from 12/7. On lee slopes, there was a clear soft slab of approx 12" depth sitting on a mix of old crusts and buried surface hoar. It was quite reactive in leeward slopes, especially on small convex rolls.

Clouds nearly all day, with few sunbreaks. Strong winds with constant wind loading throughout the day.
Snowpack
Overall the snowpack is variable in the Crystal environs. The wind did a number on any aspect that saw wind (east, west, south). Northern aspects are still protected and holding good snow but near ridgelines there was a LOT of wind loading present. Winds backed off later in the day but had already done a number.

Overall pretty touchy day with soft slabs in lee terrain. Shooting cracks present anytime nearing convexities in leeward terrain. Triggered a 1ft deep soft slab that propagated and ran in treed terrain on a convex roll.
