Quick report

Did not observe any signs of instability. Dug a pit to the ground on a SE facing slope at about 6800’. Total snowpack was 110cm. We observed a very thin crust and facet layer at 95cm, buried surface hoar at 75cm, and a larger crust with facets about 20cm from the ground. An extended column test yielded an ECTN21 on the buried surface hoar layer. We decided to ski E/SE and NE aspects in the bowl directly north of Lockwood. Soft snow, mild temperatures, and light winds made for an enjoyable and pleasant outing. Snow on the exit ridge was fairly thin in spots, but found great coverage on the road.
