Quick report
I spent the last few days touring in the area around Saddle Mountain. Conditions seemed very stable, and we pushed into the steep terrain that I would normally not consider skiing this time of year. We covered quite a bit of ground and did not see any wet slides. A week ago cold snow without a sun crust was easy to find. By this Saturday it was much harder to find, but there were still slopes and isolated pockets above 7500’ with deep facets and no melt/freeze crust. These slopes seem like they will present a very different hazard than slopes with a crust once new snow is added. Sunday morning there seemed to be a good refreeze, then wet snow started falling in the early morning.
