Quick report
Today we observed light NW winds with very light intermittent snow showers. Temperatures were in the mid to low teens. Skies were broken. We observed a melt freeze crust with Surface Hoar on top of the crust on South and Southeast aspects at 6900'. On North aspects at the same elevation, we noted large (6-8mm Surface Hoar not sitting on a crust). Below the MFcr and Surface Hoar were weak smaller (2 mm) near surface facets. When we receive a new snow load, we expect that this snow surface will be a layer of concern. The 1/3 Rain Crust was about 1 cm thick (Pencil hard) and was 30 cm from the surface. We did not get any alarming snowpack test results on the 1/3 Rain Crust or any other layers within the right-side-up snowpack.
