Quick report
Skied two of the couloirs off the south side of Maggie's today, the first at 10:45, and the second around noon. The snow in these ESE, and SE facing paths was a mixture of transitional melt freeze snow that was softening in the periods of sunshine this morning, slightly warmed wind textured snow, and more wintery snow on the right sides that faced more due E, albeit still warming. Despite the warming, no significant loose wet activity was noted at all. There was old loose wet debris that appeared to have run yesterday with the first significant sunshine. Boot penetration was 20-30 cm, into cold snow below the warmed surface snow, but was quite supportable. On my exit at 12:30, I did find 6-8" of wet snow on E and SE facing slopes at ~7000'. Until about 1:00 pm, skies were mostly sunny, and winds were calm, making it feel surprisingly warm. On the tour in, snow on more northerly slopes was generally firmer wind board, making ski crampons quite nice, and on neutral, or more easterly slopes, a thin melt freeze crust existed. This had broken down entirely by the time I exited. Ultimately, I noticed no signs of instability, all wind packed snow I encountered showed no signs of going anywhere, and despite warming snow, loose wet problems had not developed.
