Quick report
A few inches of new snow had fallen by our late morning departure, and appeared to be bonding with the old snow. New snow was rimed, including some graupel. Hand and shovel shears, and ski kicks on steep rollers, did not produce concerning results at the new/old interface. Old snow had been previously moist and was poorly refrozen, causing punchy conditions with variable supportability. Winds were moderate in speed and shifting direction. Near and above treeline it was moving the new snow. We skinned up our intended descent route but due to thin coverage in the trees we changed plans and descended the Crater Lake Rd.
