Quick Observation

Decent skiing with careful terrain choices. Snow was generally heavy, tough to get a turn going. Tacky and grippy underfoot, like having the brakes on, especially at lower elevations. Some other users skied bolder lines.

Weather

No blowing snow. Some mixed precipitation at higher elevations in the morning, sometimes grainy snow, sometimes large flakes, sometimes sleety ice pellets. Fog lifted to high broken cloud, then patches of sun by early-afternoon. Lower elevations (eg the road before the Red Heather hut) got pretty wet in the early afternoon. Car thermometer was claiming 4 at the parking lot.

Snowpack

New, heavy storm snow on crust. Seemed supportive from what we skied. CT24 at 25cm ECTN24 at 25cm. Failure layer 1: 25-30cm failed on tests Failure layer 2: 55-60cm, never failed on tests, blocks fell out when digging pit. Thick probe crust 1: 120cm Thick probe crust 2: 180cm Total Depth: 250-260cm
