Quick report
New snow over the last 24 hours 6-8" with wind drifted pockets of 14-24". Overall wind affect was isolated off ridgelines. Strong to moderate winds funneling through the canyon loaded leeward NE aspects producing easy ski cuts of sluggish wind slabs off ridgelines. Wind slabs in upper elevations around 10,000' are likely more reactive and should remain on your radar while traveling. No cracking or collapsing or any signs of storm slabs (new snow lacked firm, cohesive quality with right side up quality). Observed very small natural dry loose on very steep leeward terrain. New snow sits on preserved snow on northerly aspects and a 2mm crust on southerlies. Watch for additional loading or continued wind to assess the stability of new snow.
Snowpack
Dug a pit at 8300 on a SE aspect with no propagating results in snow since Feb 2nd. 140cm (55") of snow since Feb 2nd. Jan 4 weak layer is buried 180cm (70"). Total height of snow was 255cm. Top portion of the snowpack is right side up as we turn the corner to a more typical mid winter snowpack.
