Quick report

Ski tour up and over, exiting the slate. Warm, temps in low 30s on ascent midday, broken skies moving to scattered by 1500. Calm to light westerly breeze at ridge top and light downflow in Redwell Basin on descent. Surprisingly good Ridge tip coverage given snowfall so far this season. Tip toed into Redwell in standard entrance above gunsight, quite variable with shallow full depth (40cm) facets, quickly to 1F hard dense wind deposit. Snow over and surface condition improved on descent. Dug test profile near treeline, HS 100-120cm, F>1F above 20-30cm depth hoar near ground. Most concerning elevation band was near treeline today. Avalanche danger rating seemed accurate in terrain skied today, though I wouldn’t green light it just yet.
