Bunny Falt to Horse Camp and Hidden Valley

Direct snow travel from Bunny Flat is no longer possible. Snow line begins roughly 50 feet uphill from the parking lot. Mostly continuous snow coverage exists along the route from Bunny Flat to Horse Camp and Hidden Valley. Several sections of dry ground have emerged that riders and climbers will have to navigate through or around. During this phase of transition, pleases try to stay on snow-covered ground as much as possible until enough trail melts out to walk on. 

The largest sections of dry groud were observed crossing over to Hidden Valley on the ridgelines separating the Giddy Giddy and Anaconda drainages. Be careful when exiting Hidden Valley, as poor snow quality and a shallow snowpack have exposed many obstacles like rocks, trees, and stumps that could easily snag a rider and cause them to fall.

Hidden Valley and climbing conditions on the West Face are in great shape. Many dry camp sites exist within the white bark pines. No running water was observed, but clean snow exists for melt water. The West Face holds significantly less impacted surfaces than Avalanche Gulch, with full snow coverage up the entire route. Recent ski reports state wet and sticky snow down low, and firm and scratchy on the upper half of the route. That puts the center of the West Face in good shape for snow quality. Natural Rock and ice fall have been reported. A small wet loose avalanche was also observed off the west aspect of Casaval Ridge. Overall, the West Face conditions are good.

Shastina is in variable shape. Two prominent snow filled gullies hold good snow coverage on the east and south aspects. Otherwise, snow is inconsistent. Cascade Gulch holds decent snow coverage with water runnels down low.
