Did a column test and extended column test at tree line on a north facing slope with little signs of wind loading. Partially cloudy day with little wind and conducted at 1100 o’clock. Both CT and ECT having a T30+. Snow depth in the area was between 115cm and 140cm. Initial hardness test the snow pack was pretty consistent besides close to the ground(0-40cm from ground level) with huge cylindrical and spherical crystals. After clearing out the extended column, did another hardness test and discovered an ice layer underneath newer snow close to the surface.
