Lake McDonald mountains and the Apgar Range

 I took a quick drive to Apgar Village and circumnavigated the Apgar Range to spot avalanches. 

• At Lake McDonald, multiple wet loose slides were noted in very steep rocky terrain facing generally northwest through west. Some of these gouged to the ground in areas harboring a thin snowpack due to frequent sluffing. Unfortunately, many of these were far away, and my little camera did not capture them well. 
• Much of the viewshed from the foot of Lake McDonald is of westerly facing slopes. This limited my ability to spot slabs.
• North of Lake McDonald, multiple wet loose slides were noted on the NW-W-SW-S aspects.
• In the Apgars, I spotted a slab avalanche on a cross-loaded slope on the west side of the range. This slide appears to have failed at the ground or stepped down to the ground soon after releasing. Debris traveled to near the valley floor, almost 3000'.
• Several wet loose slides gouged down to the ground on slopes with a shallow snowpack on the west side of the Apgars.
• There was evidence of scouring and loading from the recent moderate to strong winds around Lake McDonald and in the Apgars.
