I suspect any avalanche activity would be small, manageable, and decreasing in danger. u r on your own for guessing wet slides for tomorrow (it is suppose to heat up)

Snowpack

Instability Comment

the snow bonded fairly well to the old bed (semi-warm/but not wet) New snow stability-or instability- I noticed the weakest layer about 5" above the old snow. It had 2 inches of snow on top of it. . If we get more load (snow or wind)- keep an eye on this weak layer for tomorrow. density was surprisingly not heavy, big snowflakes 1 pm, smaller ones later. for the 9th Id call it low, because there isn't a lot of weight (see wind slabs next) and the bonding was fair, but maby bump up to moderate if we get more snow.

I stomped on a wind drift with no results. I also I ran/rode into a very experienced person who pointed out a shallow/pockety wind slab on a north facing shot which did not break. did not see many of either but they are there.

wind is very swirly. I noticed light to moderate winds from n to nw, and eventually swung light to sw as I left at 4 pm. With a low on top of us we are in a toilet bowl, I would expect the wind to come from non typical directions. there is snow avail for transport. there is snow in the air already.

The higher you go (above 10,000_ the more problems you could have with this one (more wind, and colder temps= less healing/slower bonding) I personally will be staying away from seagull (3 ) chute on tuscarora and similar above 10,000 steep and consequency stuff tomorrow (no active avy center = less certainty). With the bottom feeding you don't ge a lot of bang for your buck anyway. (buck being danger bang being fun)

for the 9th id keep an eye out for wind slabs, I am thinking pockety moderate to moderate, increasing with elevation. -really depends on what winds and loading do tonight.

In the war of summer and winter, winter is back! greenhousing went in and out 2pmis today depending on cloud thickness but in the end winter won. bottom feeding every turn, the bottom isn't real crusty -so day saver. best snow is n thru nw (slightly west had softer bottom) - and as high as you can get. If we get forecast snow (3"ish inches tonight) I suspect there will be a bit of bottom feeding still. mellow angles were most fun today and If we get 3" or less overnight suspect same will be true tomm. Great to be up in the mountains in a storm.
