Cracking
specific

Toured in the Essex area from 4600' to 7000' on a SE thru SW aspect. Kept slope angles in the high 20s and low 30s for much of the day with occasional short pitches close to 35°. We never had any snow move other than down low in the exit path, which was likely due to old ski tracks under the new snow and some funky wind effect on top. Minimal cracking even up high, although the winds were blowing pretty moderately all day. Excellent skiing with some turns on the crust below, but for the most part, Montana blower! It snowed on and off throughout the day, and in the afternoon was really coming down. Guessing we saw about 2 inches all day but hard to tell with the wind. By about 4 pm the temps were dropping quickly and the wind was starting to howl- it was a sporty drive home thru the MF corridor. Cracking was never more than 4-5" deep. Nothing shooting, collapsing, etc.
