Snowpack
DP on the pink pine ridge. Down the east face at the start of the boot pack.
I'd like to mention that
A) There are some crazy hard wind blown cornices and leeward slabs up there, but we ski cut one and kicked another and things were not very reactive. Just under the ridge the snow was quite nice.
B) We dug a pit on the E (leeward) ridge in a place that probably does not see much traffic. Got an ECT 15-20 Q2. Also after seeing that result we made another column and had a skier weight the column from above. Length of column popped out at the same layer with significant energy. This layer appears to be the early Jan snow/Last week's Thursday snow interface.
All in all I was slightly confused by the test results because from just examining the snowpack this weak snow interface did not seem to pronounced. I.e. it was not something that caught my eye when examining the layers with my hand. Take it for what its worth.
