Quick Observation
Great day out on Bruins Glacier and Pass! Stable conditions and no new avalanches nor signs of instability observed. We found a poorly bonded interface of DFs 40-45cm down through hand shears, but the only reactivity we saw was on small E and SE convexities with a fair bit of jumping effort. At Bruins Pass, the same interface consisted of DFs and a crust. We also observed MFsc 5-10cm and spotty 1-2cm WSL on Bruins Ridge. We saw evidence of recent sluffing from steep terrain on all aspects and a WS sz 1.5 on N aspect of 8812 (see avi tab). The latter, along with signs of wind-loading around the summit and variable visibility steered us towards a lovely glacier run instead of attempting the summit. HS 200cm on Bruins Glacier, with a couple of open crevasses where you'd expect them. HS TL 110cm. HS Bruins Pass 105cm. The gully/creek/historical RZ leading out of Hospital Bowl made for a sporty exit, with many open holes - stay cautious!
