Quick Observation

With the avalanche hazard at high we chose a very safe trip plan that kept us from crossing any avalanche paths on our way in, with our objective being some cutblocks that we knew were below 30°. A quick snow pit at 1560m below treeline showed a weak layer down 70cm that propagated across the column with only a couple of taps from the wrist. This indicated that triggering an avalanche was likely reaffirming our decision to stay on flat ground. Once up at our high point the clouds lifted and we could see large avalanches on all aspects and elevations.
