Nakusp Area Exploration

South Columbia

AVCAN FORECASTER , Tuesday 21st January, 2025 6:15PM

Got up to 2200 m today, but visibility was challenging, with some vertigo-inducing moments. We found remnants of the early January surface hoar buried 20–40 cm below the surface. The total snow height at 2000 m was around 150 cm, with approximately 5 cm of fresh snow accumulating throughout the day. Travel conditions were generally good, with 5 to 15 cm of soft snow sitting on the old supportive surface. In sheltered areas, there is some surprisingly good riding to be found. Despite the limited visibility, it was great to be out exploring!
