Winds picking up! Almost picked me up!

travisluvsbikes, Wednesday 17th January, 2024 7:00PM
Started the day in p lot with sun light winds and <= 10cms of fresh from day before. Few high peak spindrift tails rising in the sky. Variable snow types from fluffy snow with boot top pen to hard wind crust to cutable softish wind slab as we traversed from Knolls across top of Fazers. Dropped under Memorial rock with soft fluff, little wind effect and not sun effected snow, vearing towards open trees in direction of waterfall creek. Sluffs with ? Thin wind slab releases in steep transition zones, the new snow over old, no step downs or zipper lines out from turns. As slopes mellowed very pleasent soft turns. Then skinned back up towards top of waterfall meadows and struck with screaming wind, E to W, hard slabby snow to walk over at times and lots o snow being moved from ridge down slope to where we thought we would ride. Change o plans. Reached Polyy wood ridge and evac'd and had pleasent turns that turned challenging with deeper descent with soft over crust and lots of downed tree 'features' to navigate. Creek crossing a breeze (thank you many peeps before us this season) and out. Many many more spindrift peak tails in the sky especially as you looked to wards the skeena then when we first arrived. Did notice several thin naturals on steep south facing slopes, point release sluffs and some thin slabs with short propagation down off the dome.
