We spent 5 days skiing around Farm Pass from December 12 to 16. We travelled and skied in ALP, TL and BTL on all aspects from 1600m to 2300m.
Weather: Very light southern wind. Up to 30cm of new snow since December 12.
Avalanche Summary: Evidence of a widespread natural cycle from December 6 storm was observed on all aspects. No new avalanche observed, no cracking, no whumpfs.
Snowpack: Above 1600m HS varies from 120 to 180cm and facetted at the bottom of snowpack. December 5th crust is down 30-40cm, and disappearing around 1900m. Dec 1st SH was found between 70 and 90cm. Full Profiles in open TL at 1950m (NE aspect) were given repeated hard resistant planar results down 42cm (FC) and 78cm (SH size 2-3mm).
Ski conditions: Skiing above 1700m were excellent. Skied up to 45degree slope in TL. Sun crust could be felt while skiing on steep solar slopes. New snow was settling quick, and small dry loose was limited to very steep features. Ski pen of 30-40cm above 1600m.
Other observations: Early season hazards still exist at all elevation, careful for creeks/rocks/holes. Glaciers up north looked unappealing with very open crevasses. We observed one Pine Marten eating a mouse at 1850m on NE aspect.
