Hard wind slab snow up French and down Robertson. The Haig has nice powder coverage for the short flat touring section. Lack of snow and exposed rock above treeline may force you to change your preferred route on the French and Haig. The route we took up the Robertson Col started off with good stable snow we could skin up, then turned into thin sun-crust requiring boot packing. An ice axe in dagger position was necessary, and several kicks per step to penetrate and get a supportive footing.
