Steamboat & Flat Tops

We noticed a small D1 wind slab that appeared to be triggered by a skier in another party as they descended a steep slope below the ridgeline on a SE face.

Scattered skies, with no precip and light to moderate winds at higher elevations. We observed some snow transport at the ridges. The temperature was quite warm at lower elevations.

The new snow sits on top of a layer of buried surface hoar 20-30cm below the snow surface. This layer was more well preserved at higher elevations, but still present at the trailhead. We observed a CTE on a NE slope below treeline, but it did not propagate in our ECT.
